Cadwell Park

Brian Grindrod at Cadwell Park

As recounted by Brian himself

“It’s strange what you find when you’re looking for something else, i.e. one ‘photo taken at Cadwell Park Lincs, it was B.M. (before marriage), so 1963 0r ’64, taken by a spectator and then posted to me. This was at the hairpin bend that made a half-circuit from the full race circuit.
I gave it hard left hand down, and we shot onto the unused part of the circuit, the spectators all cheered, so the next time around, (being last now!), I slowed and gave the correct hand-signal and signalled “turning right” —-more cheers!!.
At the end, as we entered the paddock, we, (Lesley and I) had Moggie owners slapping us on the back saying ” Never knew BSAs could compete so well against the Mog”.
Next day Lesley could not sit down, as I had left the seat cushions out for better gravity—.”

It has been confirmed as 1963, And The trike was a TW34-10. Brian is a long serving stalwart of

this club, and a good friend, he first appeared in a 1961 club rally that went to see the

Brighton Run,where Jack Rowe helped him fix a core plug problem.
This ‘photo was almost to poor to publish when I recieved it, but with the aid of enhancement software it is now fairly presentable, worth taking trouble over this one I think to illustrate a rarely photographed phenomenum, a BSA with a wheel in the air!! , The Photo to the left is another shot from the same race taken by John Joiner, illustrating the lengths some trike drivers went to to stop a wheel lifting!.psb
